Medical Records Coordinator to support the medical records process at our Memphis clinic.

Position Overview
The Medical Records Coordinator is responsible for managing, organizing, and safeguarding medical records. This role requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA regulations, and the ability to prioritize and support both internal and external record requests. A successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and patient service while working independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and prioritize all incoming medical records requests from patients, providers, and third parties
 - Track and manage all medical records releases and authorizations using electronic health record systems (EHR/HPI)
 - Ensure full compliance with HIPAA and organizational standards for confidentiality and data protection
 - Serve as the point of contact for all medical records-related questions
 - Assist in developing and refining internal medical records workflows and documentation practices
 - Coordinate with front desk and clinical staff as needed to support timely record handling 
 - Collect appropriate fees for medical records requests, when applicable, and ensure accurate documentation and receipting of payments
 - Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and record processes
 - Participate in quality improvement efforts
 - Perform other duties as assigned
 
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
 - Prior experience with medical records management preferred
 - Knowledge of HIPAA, medical terminology, and coding systems
 - Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Adobe, Paycom, and email communication platforms
 - Strong organizational and time-management skills
 - Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
 - Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
 - Detail-oriented and able to work independently
 - Familiarity with healthcare settings or patient-facing roles is a plus
