Job Description
The Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) provides a comprehensive full scope of midwifery services such as: health assessments in an inpatient and outpatient setting, implementation and evaluation of nurse midwifery care delivered to antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients. Provides uncomplicated gynecological care, and OB management of patients throughout the maternity cycle. The CNM's time may be shared amongst the hospital and the outpatient practice. The desire for dedicated teamwork and communication amongst the physicians and staff is a must. The CNM and the physicians collaborate to provide safe, evidence-based, and personalized care for our patients.
Responsibilities
- Conducts complete history and physical examinations/health assessments of patients in an inpatient and outpatient setting.
- Orders or performs appropriate laboratory diagnostic and other screening tests. Integrates data to determine diagnosis and therapeutic plan, including identification of any health risks.
- Develops and implements treatment plan by prescribing/dispensing medications and/or injections in compliance with medical practice guidelines and state laws.
- Oversees labor and delivery of vaginal births.
- Conducts full antepartum and intrapartum management.
- Supports postpartum care of patients.
- Responsible for the management of the medically uncomplicated and low-risk patients throughout the maternity cycle.
- Conducts and oversees uncomplicated gynecological care, including annual well-woman exams, birth control, and consultations.
- Night and/or weekend back-up call may be required
- May be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.
Qualifications
Minimum Education
- Master's Degree Nursing Required
Minimum Work Experience
- 2 years Relevant experience in prenatal, intrapartum and post-partum care. Preferred
Licenses and Certifications
- Advanced Practitice Registered Nurse Licensed State of Florida Upon Hire Required
- BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
- Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM_AMCB) Upon Hire Required
Required Skills, Knowledge And Abilities
- Knowledge of advanced practice of nursing including anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology and therapeutics, basic nutrition, behavioral factors, psychosocial/family systems, diagnostic testing, interpretation of results and clinical decision making, alternative treatment modalities.
- Using scientific rules and methods to solve problems.
- Strong analytical and decision making skills.
- Ability to accurately screen and triage acute patients
- Skill in usage of medical diagnostic equipment, as well as working knowledge of instruments and supplies required to perform clinical procedures and physical examinations.
