International Fertility Insurance (goifi.com) is a fast-growing company and is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the medical billing team in the role of Newborn Medical Billing Specialist. This position focuses on managing newborn medical bills through negotiations with providers to ensure the optimal discount as self-pay and utilizing Intended parent(s) escrow funds for payments. The Newborn Billing Specialist plays an integral role in ensuring a smooth financial process for our clients throughout their journey.
What you’ll do:

Obtains newborn cost estimates as needed and payment instructions from the hospital prior to delivery

Conveys to Intended parent(s) IFI’s expectations and their responsibilities as a self-pay dependent for their newborn

Proactively contacts providers for prepayment, when necessary

Communicates via email and phone with Intended parent(s), Agencies, and intra-department staff consistently and professionally

Manages Medical Billing for newborn services while maintaining accurate tracking through spreadsheets and organizational systems

Interacts with providers, billing departments, financial counselors, and other various departments to ensure bills are paid while obtaining the maximum discount possible

Obtains and analyzes all bills, identifies errors, and follows up with providers to ensure resolution

Collaborates closely with the accounting team to ensure accurate entry of payment information across all tracking systems and platforms

Manages escrow funds by maintaining active communication with agencies and the accounting team, and oversees the closure of escrow accounts by confirming zero balances with providers and issuing refunds for any unused funds

Identifies cases that may be at risk of exceeding the normal and customary charges to anticipate the need to file a claim to Lloyd’s of London (when applicable)

Prepares and completes claim ledgers and documentation needed for a Lloyd’s of London claim (when applicable)

Negotiates a settlement for large balances on sensitive claims like NICU charges that will meet the new parents’ financial expectations when not utilizing newborn insurance.

What you need to succeed:

Experience with medical billing and insurance
-
Experience in third-party reproduction, IVF, OBGYN or surrogacy-related fields

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a dynamic team environment

Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively

Critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple priorities

Experience Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)

Excellent written and verbal communication skills for engaging with clients, professional partners, and internal teams

Ability to present and explain complex concepts clearly and empathetically to diverse audiences

Medical Billing and/or coding certification or related associate degree preferred
