Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust is welcoming applications for two Consultant posts in Obstetrics and Gynaecology to join our expanding team. These new posts are designed to strengthen our consultant workforce, ensuring year-round antenatal clinic provision and enhanced senior clinician support for women accessing our maternity and gynaecology services.
Both posts are full-time, with a predominant focus on maternity care and some gynaecology responsibilities. As the directorate progresses towards separate Obstetrics and Gynaecology rotas, generalist consultants will contribute to both areas, allowing flexibility in future job planning.
We are looking for enthusiastic, dynamic, and forward-thinking individuals who are committed to teamwork and to delivering safe, high-quality care.
The role involves providing consultant-led care in Obstetrics, with an element of Gynaecology practice, and participating in the consultant on-call rota at Calderdale Royal Hospital, alternating between Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The post includes resident on-call duties from 18:00–22:00 on weekdays and 08:00–19:30 on weekends when on duty, as well as delivering acute Obstetrics and Gynaecology cover during “hot weeks” (Monday–Friday, 08:00–18:00) up to four weeks per year. The consultant will contribute to antenatal clinics, labour ward cover, and emergency and planned gynaecology services, while actively engaging in teaching, supervision, and multidisciplinary team working. The post also involves supporting service development as the directorate transitions to a split rota system, and participating in audit, governance, and service improvement initiatives. Initial support and on-the-job training will be provided where appropriate.
CHFT is an integrated Trust of 6,500+ colleagues providing hospital and community services to patients and communities across Calderdale and Kirklees. We are rated as ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission, are a top performing Trust for Elective Recovery, Emergency and Cancer Care and widely acknowledged as a national digital lead when it comes to caring for people across our local and regional systems.
Our people are at the core of everything we do, hence our commitment to One Culture of Care. Our focus is to care for and support each other in order to provide outstanding compassionate care to our patients. That is why we are looking for an inclusive collaborative, creative, innovative and compassionate leader to join us in this role.
