Miracle Babies Foundation is seeking a parent with lived experience of having a baby who required specialised care in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) or Special Care Nursery (SCN) following birth.
Miracle Babies Foundation is Australia's leading organisation supporting premature and sick newborns, their families and the hospitals that care for them.
Every year in Australia around 48,000 newborn babies require the help of a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) or Special Care Nursery (SCN). 27,000 of these babies are premature and up to 1,000 babies lose their fight for life. Committed to a purpose to improve, support and enhance all lives impacted by a premature or sick birth.
Delivering Miracle Babies Foundation’s NurtureProgram services and parent information through the Foundation’s activities will improve engagement between Miracle Babies Foundation’s internal and external stakeholders increasing parent connection to services and support.
This will be achieved by delivering services for families in hospitals, community and online digital platforms. To provide peer support, guidance and hope within the premises of the approved hospital, through NurtureTime, for families that have babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) or Special Care Nursery (SCN). The NurtureProgram Support Worker will deliver NurtureGroup’s and support the volunteer team to ensure that our continued commitment to provide the highest standard of care in peer to peer parent support for families of premature and sick newborns to families discharged from hospital and deliver other services as required through online digital platforms.
This role will promote all services and resources as required.
This role will provide quality peer emotional support and connection for all lives impacted by a premature or sick birth through the delivery of peer support services, including NurtureTime, to deliver emotional support to families inside the Neonatal Unit within the Hospital, along with running the after-discharge play and support group (NurtureGroup). The role will also assist with delivering resources to families inside the Hospital and support Foundation awareness events and campaigns.
