Job overviewWe have an exciting opportunity to join us as a Band 6 Inpatient Midwife at our St Helier site!

Main duties of the jobAt Epsom and St Helier we pride ourselves in offering flexible working arrangements, a robust in service training package and a positive working culture. Our midwives provide an excellent standard of midwifery care in the inpatient setting. They will be expected to carry out all relevant forms of midwifery care and will supervise other midwives, preceptors, maternity assistants and students as necessary.
Role will include:
- Fundamentally required to undertake all clinical activities that are required of a midwife
- Work within the inpatient setting, providing care to women and their families antenatally, intrapartum and postnatally.
- Demonstrate clinical expertise and act as a professional role model
- Effectively maintain records in accordance with NMC guidelines

Person specification Education and Qualifications Essential criteria
- Registered Midwife with active UK NMC Pin
- Completed Preceptorship program
- Mentorship qualification or SSSA equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of post-registration education activity
- NLS accreditation
- NIPE qualification
Experience Essential criteria
- Recent experience across a range of maternity settings
- Experience of mentoring junior staff or students
Desirable criteria
- Post registration Inpatient experience
Knowledge and Skills Essential criteria
- Achieved competency in cannulation, suturing and medicines administration
- Good knowledge of obstetric emergency management
- Good IT and administration skills
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills
Desirable criteria
- Experience in Digital Maternity systems (eg. Badgernet, iClip)
