Job Description
Trans Ova Genetics is seeking a Semen Sexing Lab Technician to join their team in Fort Scott, KS! This position will support the precision and quality of our laboratory operations. In this role, you’ll work with advanced equipment such as the MoFlo cell sorter, perform detailed sample preparation and analysis, and ensure accurate data tracking and inventory management.
As a Semen Sexing Lab Technician, you are responsible for assisting other semen lab technicians with all duties associated with production in the semen lab, as well as data entry and communication with other team members. Responsibilities
- Daily moflo calibration.
- Moflo start-up.
- Moflo alignment.
- Moflo drop delay.
- Sample preparation.
- Motility assessments before and after sorting process.
- Determination of sample concentration using hemacytometers.
- Sample mixing and staining.
- Sorting samples on the moflo.
- Validating sire name and semen type.
- Sort rate and sort gate determination.
- Data tracking for all sorts.
- Moflo cleaning and shutdown.
- Semen inventory management.
- Pull semen for all fertilizations.
- Pull semen for shipments.
- Inventory incoming semen and enter in OvaDrive.
- Preparation of necessary lab supplies, lab cleanliness and equipment maintenance.
- Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as determined by Trans Ova Genetics and strives for improving personal performance.
- Communicates openly and honestly with fellow team members and supervisor.
- Follows Trans Ova’s policies and procedures.
- Maintains a professional image reflective of Trans Ova’s industry position.
Education Requirements
- 2 or 4 year degree in a science related field preferred.
