Role Overview
As a Certified Labor Doula, you will provide compassionate, continuous support to parents during pregnancy, labor, and birth. You will offer physical comfort, emotional reassurance, and evidence-based education to empower parents in making informed choices about their birth experience.
This role is ideal for skilled doulas who are passionate about advocacy, creating a calming presence, and working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure parents feel seen, heard, and supported.
Responsibilities
- Provide continuous emotional, physical, and educational support to birthing individuals and their families before, during, and immediately after labor.
- Offer comfort measures such as positioning, breathing techniques, massage, and relaxation strategies.
- Educate parents on birthing options, interventions, and informed decision-making.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, midwives, and the broader NovoKind network to ensure integrated, respectful care.
- Conduct prenatal sessions (virtually or in-person if applicable) to prepare families for labor.
- Support postpartum transition through immediate newborn care education, emotional reassurance, and referrals as needed.
- Document sessions, plans, and care summaries in NovoKind’s EHR (CharmHealth).
- Participate in ongoing provider training, quarterly reviews, and community events.
Requirements Current certification as a Labor Doula (DONA, CAPPA, ICEA, ProDoula, or equivalent).
- Demonstrated experience providing labor and birth support (virtual, in-person, or both).
- Strong knowledge of comfort techniques, birthing options, and family-centered care.
- Professional liability insurance (required).
- Excellent communication, listening, and advocacy skills.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
- Reliable internet connection for virtual sessions and ability to work collaboratively across teams.
