Decypher is seeking a Registered Nurse - OB/GYN to support the contract at Eglin Air Force Base in Valparaiso, Florida.
US Citizenship is required.
Qualifications
- Education: A graduate in Bachelors of Science in Nursing from an accredited National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) school or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). An associates degree may be considered with experience in Labor and Delivery or clinical obstetrics.
- Certifications:
- Current Healthcare (HCP) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification using American Heart Association or American Red Cross guidelines.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Certification granted based solely on computer-based training does not constitute fulfillment of this requirement.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in clinical nursing with at least 1 year working in outpatient obstetrics or Labor and Delivery. Must be competent in performing antepartum fetal monitoring.
- Licensure/Registration: Current, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in any US state/jurisdiction.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate patient care in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare professionals. Facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to obstetrical gynecology care, quality and care effectiveness. The OB/GYN RN shall respect and maintain the basic rights of patients, demonstrating concern for personal dignity and human relationships.
- Conduct physical exam and health histories. Will treat and receive patients, prepare and maintain records, pull and file patient medical records, perform basic secretarial skills, handle telephone calls and written correspondence, serve as a liaison between physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and other medical staff.
- Provide health promotions, counseling, and education relayed from medical providers. OB/GYN RN must have the ability to acquire and use basic computer skills to enter patient data and extract patient information using all DOD government medical sites (i.e. Military Health System (MHS) Electronic Health Record (EHR) GENESIS).
- Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergency situations. Initiate life saving measures in the absence of a physician.
- Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.
- Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the medical treatment facility. Provide care within ethical and legal boundaries.
- Skilled in setting up, operating, and monitoring specialized medical equipment such as IV infusion pumps, cardiac monitoring devices, EKG units, oxygen analyzers, endoscopic equipment, and other obstetric specific equipment.
- Perform/assist with procedures such as bladder catheterizations, pulse oximetry, oxygen administration, EKGs, and other clinic specific procedures, in accordance with established protocols. Provides clinical oversight of all paraprofessionals involved in the provision of therapeutic treatments and remain professional at all times.
- Serve and participate in committees, functions and other meetings as directed. Provide relevant and timely information to these groups and assists with decision-making and process improvement. Participate in customer service initiatives, quality projects, and medical readiness activities, designed to enhance health services.
- Possess working knowledge of computer applications/software to include Microsoft Office programs, MS Outlook (e-mail), and internet familiarity is required. The ability to input, extract and format data from established databases.
- Possess basic knowledge of established clinic standards of care and Joint Commission requirements for clinical and documentation protocols, safety, infection control, performance improvements, etc., to ensure compliance with policies and provide consistent training and guidance for nursing staff.
