Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Postpartum/Mother-Baby unit provides compassionate and specialized nursing care to mothers and newborns during the postpartum period. This role ensures the delivery of safe, individualized care while supporting family-centered practices and collaborating with the healthcare team. The RN adheres to regulatory standards and organizational policies to promote optimal health outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Uphold organizational policies, procedures, and comply with applicable state, federal, and local laws.
Demonstrate a professional and supportive attitude while fostering a positive work environment.
Identify and support innovative ideas to improve patient care and team performance.
Utilize effective communication strategies, including chain of command and escalation procedures, to achieve intended outcomes.
Participate actively in problem identification, resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Mentor and orient new staff in clinical skills and professional behaviors.
Collaborate with other departments to resolve patient-related issues effectively.
Prioritize and delegate nursing assignments to ensure timely and complete patient care.
Comply with all regulatory requirements, organizational policies, procedures, and nursing standards.
Perform patient care activities within the RN scope of practice, considering age-related needs of mothers and newborns.
Report unusual patient findings to appropriate clinical staff and contribute to the revision of care plans.
Adhere to hospital standards tailored to the unique needs of postpartum mothers and infants.

Required Qualifications

Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
Clinical experience in postpartum, mother-baby, or maternal-newborn nursing preferred.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and mentoring skills.
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Knowledge of nursing process and age-specific care needs.
