Job Summary
Tendring PCN has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced practice nurse or ANP to join our team at the Mayflower Medical Centre in Harwich. Offered on a full or part-time basis depending on the hours the applicant requires, this is an18 month fixed term contract.
General nursing or advanced practitioner applications are welcomed, with areas of special interest and experience desirable including:
- Respiratory conditions
- Diabetes management
- Minor illness
- Family Planning - coils and implants
- HRT, menopause, women's health
Main duties of the job
- Undertaking health assessments, administering medication and treatments, and performing diagnostic tests.
- Providing and evaluating a range of health interventions to ensure that patients health and social care needs are met.
- General health and well-being promotion as well as creating individual, person-centred plans for patients with, or at risk of, a long term condition.
- Managing and treating long-term conditions, in line with national and local policies and the practice needs.
- Reviewing medication for therapeutic effectiveness, in accordance with evidence-based practice as well as national and practice protocols; working with patients to support their adherence to prescribed treatments.
- Prioritising health problems and intervening appropriately, to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care.
- Supporting and managing the health needs of women presenting for sexual health and contraception, and cervical cytology consultations.
- Implementing, and participating in, vaccination and immunisation programmes for both adults and children, including patients travelling abroad.
- Meeting the needs of patients presenting for opportunistic wound care.
- Hypertension review and management.
- Running asthma, COPD and diabetes clinics and reviews.
- New patient and health checks.

- A relevant nursing degree.
- Current NMC registration with an active PIN.
- Fundamentals of Practice Nursing course desirable (General Practice Nurse Foundation Programme) or equivalent experience or qualifications.
- Competence to undertake asthma, COPD and diabetic clinics and reviews, holding relevant certificates.
