The Maternal Child Health Epidemiology Program supports analysis and evaluation for the Title V Block grant and family health programs, using birth records, death records, hospitalizations database, Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS) and newborn hearing surveillance.
Why does the job exist?
This position applies descriptive and complex statistical analysis skills to public health prevention and health status initiatives throughout the state of New Mexico.
How does it get done?
- Uses statistical software to perform analysis and create reports on maternal and child health status
- Uses REDCap and other platforms to manage and collect data
- Provides analytic support to program evaluation and monitoring for Title V programs and partners
- Contributes to grant reporting and performance reporting for federal and state funding streams.

Minimum Qualification
Master's Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Sciences, Social Sciences, or Statistics and one (1) year in Public Health to include data analysis and linking methodology. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling seven (7) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
In office work with computer and visual display terminal. Limited travel for in state and out of state conferences
