This opportunity is for the experienced nurse who has a desire to become a Labor and Delivery Nurse, without previous perinatal nursing experience. This program is designed to support the learner throughout the transition process from novice to advanced beginner and consists of a blended learning approach which incorporates the following integral components: didactic instruction, preceptor based clinical practicum, AWHONN Perinatal Orientation Education Program online modules, case-based simulation training, and rotations to various specialty areas. All training methodologies are geared towards enhancing the learner’s exposure to different populations of perinatal patients with varying compound health problems and towards developing relationships among the multidisciplinary health care team.
