Reproductive Medicine Associates of New York is looking for a talented Medical Assistant Team Lead. OVERVIEW: Responsible to provide efficient patient care and perform other related technical and clinical support activities as directed by Clinical Manager.
Full-time position (40 hours per week), scheduled Monday through Friday, including rotating weekend and holiday schedule.
Daily shifts may range from 8 to 10 hours. Shifts start as early as 6:45am.
The pay will be $24-$29 per hour based on experience.
Team Lead Duties
- Assist with scheduling and maintaining Weekly Clinical Duties and Assignments as directed by Clinical Manager
- Splitting papers correctly during monitoring and ensuring all bloods, scans and other procedures are done as needed
- LIS submitting for the offsite location daily
- Proper double check of daily monitoring in house hormone bloods prior to being sent out with courier
- Weekly checks of all Clinical logs at offsite location you are Team Leading
General Clinical Functions
- Assist physicians with the following procedures and accurately documenting in Resource according to practice protocol:
- IUIs
- Ultrasounds (stim, pregnancy, 3D)
- Saline sonograms
- Post Op Exams
- Physical Exams
- Biopsies (cervical or endometrial polyps / retained POC)
- Catheter Removals
- Laminaria Insertions
- Cyst or Fluid aspiration
- Keep the physician on schedule by anticipating their needs and being available to assist.
- Perform and record height, weight and blood pressure for all new patients.
- As needed follow up patients BMI, respiration rate and temperature and ensure it is recorded, lab ordered and/or documented according to protocol.
- Obtain blood specimens and collect non-blood specimens for laboratory testing as ordered; use aseptic technique and in accordance with department procedures.
- Follow Practice policies & protocols when verifying, collecting, labeling and processing specimens. and verbally and visually verify patient information prior to procedures and blood draws.
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, and calling for assistance from other health care support personnel when appropriate.
- Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
- Ensure operation of equipment by following manufacturer’s instructions; advise manager when there are equipment problems or failures.
- Keep work area neat and clean; clean exam rooms promptly; clean sinks and counter tops in clinical areas.
- Restock daily supplies; advise Clinical Manager when stock needs replenishing; distribute clinical supplies as needed.
- Cooperate with office operations by assisting with the Physician team responsibilities as needed.
Patient Interaction
- Escort patients to and from phlebotomy area or examination rooms, and direct or escort patients to the front/sign out desk upon the completion of the patient’s clinical treatment.
- Comfort patients by anticipating patient’s anxieties; answering patient’s questions within the scope of the position; maintaining neat, clean examination rooms.
- Provide quality care by adhering to therapeutic standards; follow practice, physician and nursing division philosophies, as well as standards of care set by the state and other governing agency regulations.
Teamwork
- Consistently work in a positive and cooperative manner.
- Assist in the orientation/training of new team members when requested by manager.
- Assist other team members in the performance of their assignments.
- Consider the impact of your actions on team members throughout the Practice
- Seek out opportunities to help ; take initiative.
- Demonstrate flexibility to perform duties and take on shifts wherever volume deems it necessary within the Practice.
- Work weekends & holidays as needed and/or scheduled.
- Work various locations as needed and/or scheduled
- Work shifts starting as early as 6:45am and as late as 7:30pm. (Will be scheduled 1 or more days per week as needed for staffing)
- Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping all patient and proprietary information confidential.
- Participate in cost containment by appropriate use of medical and office supplies.
- Cooperate with office administration by filing medical records and other clinical documents.
- Understand Practice purchasing policies, including knowledge of vendors, instruments and supplies, as well as shipping and receiving procedures.
- Maintain daily, monthly, and yearly inventory for all clinical supplies and instruments.
- Maintain dating system for recall of supplies according to limit of shelf life.
- Process supply requests in a prompt, cooperative, and efficient manner.
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent and completion of Certified Medical Assistant Program (with Phlebotomy) required. State certification preferred.
- At least 4 years of experience in a physician practice preferred.
- Prior experience as a team lead, or leadership role is highly preferred.
- Previous experience in fertility, OBGYN, Urology, or related field is preferred.
- Strong Phlebotomy skills required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and rules required.
- Knowledge of infection control, HIPAA, and OSHA regulations.
- Able to document and navigate electronic medical records efficiently.
- Ability to access, input, and retrieves information from a computer.
- Knowledge of office procedure and office machines (i.e. computer, fax, copier, etc.).
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to communicate accurately and concisely with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Skilled at addressing issues professionally and proactively, able to delegate tasks, confident in clinical decision making, and comfortable guiding staff and providing feedback.
