Position Summary:
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) plays a key role in providing high-quality, compassionate care to patients undergoing fertility evaluation and treatment in a reproductive endocrinology practice. This role supports physicians, nurses, and the care team by performing clinical and administrative tasks to ensure efficient patient flow, accurate documentation, and a positive patient experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
- Prepare patients for exams, procedures, and ultrasounds by reviewing medical history, medications, allergies, and treatment plans.
- Assist physicians with procedures such as intrauterine inseminations (IUI), hysteroscopies, saline sonograms, and minor in-office procedures.
- Obtain and document vital signs, weight, and other required clinical information accurately.
- Administer prescribed medications and injections (including fertility medications) under provider direction and within scope of certification.
- Perform specimen collection and handling, including phlebotomy, urine tests, andrology samples, and laboratory preparation as required.
- Maintain exam rooms, ensure cleanliness, and stock medical supplies.
- Educate patients on medication administration, treatment instructions, and follow-up care.
Administrative Duties:
- Schedule appointments, diagnostic tests, and procedures as directed.
- Document patient encounters accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Assist with prior authorizations, medication refills, and patient communication.
- Support coordination of care between patients, providers, and external facilities (pharmacies, laboratories, referring providers).
- Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Current certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent).
- Phlebotomy certification strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical setting; experience in OB/GYN, reproductive endocrinology, or women’s health strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in EMR systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Compassionate, patient-focused approach with attention to detail.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and assist patients for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs as needed.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
