DESCRIPTION:
Nurse Practitioner will provide the Imaging Center assistance to Radiologist in the coordination of patient care. Ability to oversee MRI/CT procedures and monitor patients having contrast for any adverse reactions, following guidelines for reversal of any reactions in order to stabilize patient. Providing follow- up care the patient and arranging additional tests, providing results and documentation within patient’s chart. Ability to review cases with the Radiologists for continuity of care and follow recommendations. Must be professional and courteous and abide by established customer service guidelines, policies and procedures. Assist in the event of an adverse reaction and or any clinical urgent matters within the Center.
Required Background:
- APRN License
- CPR BLS Certification
- Breast Patient Navigator Certification
- 3 + years of clinical experience
- Bilingual proficiency (English and Spanish)
Specific Responsibilities:
- Assist Radiologist in the management and coordination of patient care.
- Assist in MRI/CT Contrast Studies by monitoring patients’ reaction to contrast.
- Administer any reversal agents during an adverse reaction to contrast and conduct stabilization care.
- Provide patients with abnormal findings and document in patients chart any communication pertain to care.
- Assist Radiologist in preparing patients for procedures, including biopsies.
- Provide discharge summary and instructions to patients.
- Provide compassionate manner and informed counseling to patients and their families, addressing breast cancer diagnosis, treatment options, and the steps to be taken following diagnosis.
- Conduct screening of patient’s pre-procedures and post care instructions.
- Act as the primary interdisciplinary liaison (point of contact), between medical facilities, surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, laboratories, and patients, facilitating communication and ensuring a well-coordinated approach to care.
- As instructed by Radiologist, review abnormal results and provide necessary follow-up procedures as per established protocols.
- Provide clinical support essential to the MRI/CT department, including assisting the challenging IV initiations and phlebotomy procedures in the Obstetrics (OB) Department.
- Patient Care – being prepared to assist with patient care during procedures, especially in the event of complications, ensuring patient safety and well-being.
- Quality Assurance – conduct a detailed review of all outside images and reports before radiologist assessment, contributing to the accuracy and quality of studies and offering a valuable second opinion.
- Guide patients through the healthcare system and help patients with next steps.
- Assist patients in understanding their procedure findings, radiologist recommendations, and resources available.
- Track/log interventions and outcomes.
- Responsible for the security and confidentiality of patient information at all times.
- Participates in activities that maintain compliance with regulatory agencies.
- Modeling safe, ethical behavior that mitigates risk to the institution through sound business practices, and adherence to Centers Standards of Conduct, institutional policies and procedures.
- Handle requests in a timely manner.
- Ability to review charts and provide guidance to other patient navigators.
- Assist in any adverse reactions or urgent clinical matters that require basic life support.
- Request prescriptions and handle calls for the technologist.
- Demonstration excellent customer service and communication skills.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45.00 - $55.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
