Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse - Obstetrics / Gynecology
Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Obstetrics/Gynecology department. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality care to women during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum, as well as treating a variety of gynecological conditions. The Registered Nurse will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Perform physical exams and health assessments on pregnant women and gynecological patients.
2. Monitor fetal heart rate and uterine contractions during labor.
3. Assist with labor and delivery, including coaching mothers through the birthing process.
4. Administer medications and IV fluids as prescribed by physicians.
5. Educate patients on prenatal care, labor and birth, breastfeeding, and postpartum care.
6. Provide emotional support to patients and their families during challenging situations.
7. Document patient information and maintain accurate medical records.
8. Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to develop care plans.
9. Assist with gynecological procedures and surgeries as needed.
10. Participate in continuing education to stay current on best practices in obstetrics and gynecology.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid RN license in the state of practice.
2. Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
3. Certification in Obstetrics/Gynecology Nursing (RNC-OB or similar) highly desirable.
4. Minimum of 2 years of experience in Obstetrics, Labor and Delivery, or Gynecology.
5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
7. Knowledge of electronic health records and medical documentation.
8. CPR and BLS certification required.
9. Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
10. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
