Position Overview:
As an Overnight Postpartum Doula or Newborn Care Specialist, you will play a vital role in helping families adjust to life with a newborn. You will provide expert guidance, hands-on support, and emotional reassurance during the nighttime hours, allowing parents to rest, recover, and bond with their little one. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Offering overnight care to newborns, including feeding, diaper changes, soothing techniques, and ensuring a safe sleep environment.
- Assisting parents with establishing healthy sleep habits and routines for their baby.
- Educating and empowering parents on newborn care, feeding techniques, and postpartum recovery.
- Providing emotional support, active listening, and encouragement to parents as they navigate the challenges of early parenthood.
- Monitoring the well-being of both the baby and the parent, recognizing and addressing any potential concerns or issues.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as an Overnight Postpartum Doula/Newborn Care Specialist or willing to train.
- Background in postpartum care, newborn care, or lactation consulting is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of newborn care practices, breastfeeding support, and safe sleep guidelines.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with families.
- Compassionate, nurturing, and patient demeanor.
- Reliable and flexible availability to work overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays. VDC will consider a 3-6 month temporary commitment as well.
- Commitment to maintaining client confidentiality and professional boundaries.
