The Medical Scribe records the patient visit while the provider is performing exam/procedure or discussion with the patient. This position follows the physician schedule and must demonstrate flexibility on hours and days. The position will rotate between Tuesday through Thursday and 8:30 am-5:30 pm but is dependent on physician schedule. Total hours will be between 26-30 weekly. This is a perfect position for someone preparing or taking college courses online and interested in working in the healthcare industry.
Essential Functions:
- Accompany the physician during patient encounters and record medical information in real-time.
- Prepare documentation of patient visits for physician review and approval.
- Enter information into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system accurately and efficiently.
- Ensure notes and records are clear, accurate, and completed promptly.
- Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness in supporting physicians, staff, and patients.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient, employee, and company information in compliance with
HIPAA and organizational policies.
- Assist with additional duties as assigned including chaperone
- Promote a positive and professional image of Axia Women’s Health.
Skills:
- Typing speed of at least 60 words per minute with high accuracy.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and multitasking ability.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing physician schedules and priorities.
- Demonstrated professionalism and ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
Experience and Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems preferred; training available.
- Possess Documentation Specialist Certification (RHDS or CHDS) (preferred)
- Previous medical office or healthcare experience a plus.
- Interest in healthcare careers (medical, nursing, or allied health fields) strongly encouraged.
