St. Joseph's Health Centre is looking to recruit a dedicated breast sonographer to join our wonderful team. We are located in the West end, within walking distance of beautiful High Park, Lake Ontario and the Martin Goodman Trail. We are easily accessible by TTC and the Gardiner Expressway, and have onsite monthly or day pass parking at a reasonable rate.
Our new Breast Centre, The Geoffrey H. Wood Centre of Excellence in Breast Cancer Screening and Treatment, is a CAR accredited facility and OBSP assessment site, where you will perform all types of breast ultrasound exams and procedures . Our patients come to one centre for all their breast imaging needs, including plastics consultations. Shifts are primarily days and occasional weekends.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Demonstrates proficiency in all aspects of a Breast Sonographer
- Documents, reports and reviews ultrasound findings to provide an accurate patient diagnosis
- Possesses a key element of professionalism, meeting a standard of education with the required knowledge, skills and judgment to perform competently
- To function as the very image of care; actively working as the essential link between compassionate care and diagnosis using medical sonography
- Ensures the care provided is safe, appropriate, tailored, timely, and maximizes the potential of the available equipment and resources
- Demonstrates commitment to a patient- and family-centered approach to care
- Respects patient rights and needs, and foster an environment that encourages the patient's involvement in their own care. This commitment is extended to patients from all cultures and backgrounds, ensuring all are treated with dignity, equity and respect.
- Shares their knowledge and expertise collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team, such as both staff and students, in a positive manner that promotes an inclusive environment
- Participates in quality control, assurance and improvement programs
- Demonstrates critical thinking skills with the ability to manage competing demands
- Assists radiologists with special procedures performed under ultrasound guidance
- Monitors patient status and responds to any change in condition, to ensure patient safety and comfort
- Should have the ability to work in an academic environment
- Organizes, prioritizes and co-ordinates scheduling of procedures, communicates verbally with appropriate personnel regarding procedure types, lab results, equipment failures, policies and procedures
- Must be able to work independently and without supervision
- Actively participates in all research activities and examinations as required
- Other duties as assigned and required for operational purposes
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound Program
- Must be licensed by and in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO)
- Registration and in good standing with Sonography Canada (SC) as a Generalist Sonographer (CRGS) preferred
- Registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS - AB, OB/GYN) an asset
- Registration with the Ontario Association of Medical Radiation Sciences (OAMRS) an asset
- Breast imaging experience of 2-3 years preferred
- Recent hospital experience an asset
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal/written), and organizational skills

- Excellent problem recognition and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and accurately, both autonomously and as an effective team member
