Job Title: Postpartum Doula (Overnights)
Location: San Diego County, CA (In-Person)
Schedule: Full-time. Overnight shifts (10:00 PM – 6:00 AM), 32–40 hours/week averages, plus team engagement, events and community outreach.

At Doulas of North County, we’re redefining the doula role—and it starts with you. We’re seeking a standout Overnight Postpartum Doulas to join our growing team. This isn’t just a job; it’s your entry into a company that’s rethinking the doula model with fierce support, bold innovation, and heart-centered care.
What You’ll Do: You’ll be the steady, empowering force families trust overnight, championing their choices with unwavering, nurturing care. Your nights will include:
- Caring for babies (feeding, diapering, soothing) with patience and a nurturing touch.
- Offering evidence-based tips on infant sleep, feeding, and postpartum recovery—blended with gentle, holistic tools like breathwork, baby soothing techniques, and nervous system support for the whole family
- Supporting all postpartum goals (feeding preferences, sleep routines, developmental milestones) with nonjudgmental advocacy and holistic know-how.
- Tracking sleep, feeds, and diapers with clear, thoughtful updates for parents.
- Prepping bottles, sterilizing pump parts, and set-up/maintain infant feeding area
- Holding space and actively listening to parents’ needs, empowering them through gentle coaching.
- Helping birthers advocate for their own needs, prioritizing healing from labor to self-care throughout the postpartum journey.
- Support physical, emotional and mental health of mother, helping her establish healthy communication with partner or other family support
- Connecting families to our trusted network (e.g., IBCLCs, perinatal therapists) when needed.
Who You Are: You’re driven, professional, and ready to elevate the doula path with heart and versatility. You bring peace to uncertainty, innovate with passion, and balance independence with team spirit.
- Experience: Proven infant care skills (doula, nanny, caregiver) and endless patience with newborns.
- Certification: Certified postpartum doula or willing to certify ASAP
- Night Owl: Comfortable with overnights (10:00 PM – 6:00 AM, 4–5 shifts/week, typically Sunday–Thursday, with flexibility). Sleep when baby sleeps, once tasks are done.
- Adaptable: Pivots effortlessly—home visits across San Diego County are your canvas.
- Grounded & Calm: The anchor in postpartum unpredictability, with a steady, bold presence.
- Communicative: Clear, reliable, and tech-savvy (Slack, Zoom, Google Workspace), with active listening as your superpower.
- Innovator: Enthusiastic about bringing fresh ideas and alternative healing (e.g., aromatherapy, infant massage) to the doula profession.
- Trend-Savvy: Eager to stay current on industry trends, from sleep science to wellness.
Qualifications:
- Infant CPR & First Aid certified (or willing to get).
- Lives in San Diego County with reliable transportation.
- Passes background check, provides references.
- Up-to-date on flu and TDAP vaccines.
- 18+, eligible to work in the U.S.
- Open to all races, religions, family structures, and orientations.
