Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Medical Assistant to join our well-established OBGYN practice, led by a female physician with 23 years of expertise. Our practice provides comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care to a diverse patient population. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in OBGYN settings, exceptional clinical and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.
Responsibilities
- Patient Care Support:
- Assist the physician during obstetric and gynecologic examinations, procedures, and consultations.
- Prepare patients for exams, including taking vital signs, medical histories, and documenting chief complaints.
- Provide patient education on prenatal care, contraception, menopause, and other women’s health topics under the physician’s guidance.
- Clinical Duties:
- Perform basic clinical tasks such as administering injections, drawing blood, and preparing specimens for laboratory testing.
- Assist with in-office procedures, including IUD insertions, colposcopies, and ultrasounds, ensuring proper setup and sterilization of equipment.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Administrative Tasks:
- Schedule appointments, coordinate referrals, and manage patient follow-ups.
- Verify insurance information and assist with billing or coding as needed.
- Maintain inventory of medical supplies and ensure exam rooms are fully stocked and clean.
- Patient Interaction:
- Provide empathetic and professional support to patients, addressing their concerns and ensuring a comfortable environment.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding test results, treatment plans, and follow-up instructions as directed by the physician.
Qualifications
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in an OBGYN or women’s health setting (required).
- Proven proficiency in assisting with obstetric and gynecologic procedures.
- Education and Certification:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
- Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) credential strongly preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of OBGYN medical terminology, procedures, and protocols.
- Proficiency with EMR systems and basic computer skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on sensitivity to patient needs.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
