The Registered Nurse Lactation Counselor provides expert breastfeeding support and education to mothers and infants, using the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care.
- Offers in-person consultations, phone follow-ups, and outpatient services to address lactation challenges and promote breastfeeding success.
- Collaborates with healthcare team members to ensure seamless care and continuity after discharge.
- Educates families on breastfeeding techniques, infant cues, and benefits; develops personalized care plans.
- Assists in staff training to promote best practices in lactation care.
- Participates in quality improvement initiatives and program development.
- Maintains documentation and follows hospital policies.
- Requires RN license, IBCLC certification, BLS, associate degree (bachelor’s preferred), and experience in lactation and maternal-infant health.
- Works full-time, 7AM-7PM, providing comprehensive lactation support within a multidisciplinary team.
