Job Title: Lead Embryologist
Department: OB-GYN IVF Lab
Location: Fertility Lab 3701 Market Street 8th Fl
Hours: Mon-Fri office hours
Summary: The position's primary focus is to participate in daily operations and provide a competent skill set for all aspects of human embryology. This position includes 'hands-on' involvement in clinical IVF laboratory work and coordination of projects as directed by the Laboratory Director. The candidate will be expected to be a leader in the embryology laboratory and maintain CLIA and CAP standards regarding quality control/ quality management, procedural guidelines, and day-to-day management of the IVF laboratory. There may be an expectation to participate in CAP preparation and peer inspections. This position is for a fully trained human embryologist and the expectation is for the individual to take ownership of projects participate in department conferences, and provide feedback for optimizing patient care in the laboratory. A Lead Embryology position must be filled by a Senior Embryologist. Responsibilities will include all embryology procedures, QA documentation, QC reporting, and associated administrative duties. The candidate will have a working knowledge of SART, embryo biopsy and egg vitrification, and thaw experience. Salary will be based on current skill set. Embryology experience is required; this individual will have ownership of at least one advanced task including SART submission to the CDC, College of American Pathology inspections, embryology equipment, and maintenance operations. Depending on which specialty is assigned to the individual, they will work with the Division's Quality Assurance manager in functioning as liaison to accrediting/regulatory agencies in preparation for inspections, site visits, documentation of compliance, deficiency corrections, status changes, and licensing renewals; Maintains an updated database related to Federal, State, and local government agencies and professional accrediting agencies' regulatory requirements impacting lab operations including AABB, CMS (Center for Medicare/Medicaid Services), DOH (Appropriate state Dept. of Health), DOH (Bureau of Laboratories), CAP (College of American Pathologists), CLSI (Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute), FDA, FACT, TJC (The Joint Commission), OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Act), NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission), DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency), DOT (Dept. of Transportation: Shipment of Hazardous Material); Ensures that all quality control, instrument records, test records, and other documentation are maintained in a manner which complies with all regulatory requirements; Ensures that review of department operating policies and processes are performed within required time limits; Monitors and participates in department efforts to maintain a safe working environment through development of safety policies, ongoing surveillance of environment and work practices; Ensures deficiencies noted are corrected. This position will require weekend and holiday rotations. We are only able to interview candidates who are currently eligible to work in the United States.

Demonstrates basic knowledge of reproductive biology including the male and female reproductive system.

Must be comfortable with the physical handling of oocytes, embryos and semen including potentially contaminated, hazardous (i.e. infectious) biological specimens.

Covers weekends and holidays independently on an as needed basis.

Trains and supervises new staff and identifies breaches in protocols.
Takes ownership of large clinical projects.
Credentials:
- American Board of Bioanlysis
Education or Equivalent Experience:
- Bachelor of Arts or Science in biology or a related field (Required)

And 5+ years Clinical embryology experience (Required)

Specialized experience/ training in Human IVF.
