POSITION SUMMARY
The Physician of Obstetrics & Gynecology will provide high quality medical service for obstetric and gynecology patients of all ages, including intrapartum care.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (included but not limited to the following);
Medical Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the medical management of all assigned patients through history and clinical assessments and prevention, planning and treatment.
- Plans and directs all inpatient and outpatient medical care for assigned patients through diagnosis and treatment.
- Ensures maintenance of accurate and complete medical records covering all social and medical data.
- Legibly records all pertinent information on the medical record concerning the visit, examination findings, tests ordered, results, medications and treatments administered.
- Communicates and refers patients to specialists when appropriate.
- Plans for continuity of care of patients through referrals to home health agencies,
- social service agencies and other case management groups.
- Provide consultations and resource information to peers.
- Performs history and physicals in preoperative patients as necessary.
- Provides safe and competent intrapartum care.
- Participates in the development and implementation of continuous quality improvement strategies based on standards of medical practice, customer expectations and health care costs.
- Practice safe, high quality low cost medicine by developing protocols and standards of practice.
- Evaluates outcomes of medical treatment and takes necessary actions.
- Actively participates in all ambulatory peer review processes and initiates necessary corrections.
- Attends and actively participates in provider’s weekly meetings.
- Keeps abreast of new developments in specific area of practice by attending in-services, CME classes and ACLS Certification.
- Abide by the infection and control guidelines.
- Performs breast exams and pap smears.
- Responsible to order mammography and lab tests.
- Participates in planning of community health education projects by identifying problems/issues affecting the surrounding community.
Administrative Responsibilities
Review all lab test reports/referral reports.
Notify and follow-up on abnormal lab findings.
Direct patient care performed by the nursing staff.
Assist in the development and implementation of clinic protocols and procedures.
Attends provider meetings, staff meetings, and other meetings as required.
Keeps abreast of new developments in specific area of practice by attending in-services, CME classes and ACLS Certification.
- CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES
Current Illinois Medical License.
Board Certification in OB-Gyn.
Current DEA Certification and CPR AED Certification.
