An exciting opportunity exists for a Registered Nurse looking to work to their full-scope of practice and whom has a passion for providing patient and family centered care at the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre, located in the community of Fort McMurray. As our Registered Nurse, you will be working in a position primarily in Day Surgery, Post Anesthesia Care Unit and Pre-Admission Clinic. You will work within an interdisciplinary team, utilizing our values (AHS Cares) and Patient First Strategy in your practice to provide leading care to Albertans. Our Operating Room has the capacity for six (6) theatres, covering general surgery, gynecology and obstetrics, dental, ear, nose and throat, spines, and orthopedic trauma. Our Post-Anesthesia Care Unit has capacity for eight (8) monitoring beds. Our Day Surgery has 13 beds. The Day Surgery Registered Nurse is responsible for providing pre- and post-operative patient care using the nursing process, in accordance with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) and National Association of Perianesthesia Nurses of Canada (NAPAN) standards. You will demonstrate competence in delivering safe, effective and efficient care in all settings, participating as an integral part of our team. You will act as a patient advocate and provide a link between the other units in the facility and the Operating Room and/or Post-Anesthesia Care Unit. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)

Preferred Qualifications:
Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing. Two (2) years of experience within the last five (5) years in the operating room and/or post-anesthesia care unit. Post-Anesthesia Care Nursing Course. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
