Job Title: Registered Nurse Labor & Delivery RN
Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse specializing in Labor & Delivery to join our dynamic healthcare team. As a Labor & Delivery RN, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient-centered care to expectant mothers and their newborns during the delivery process. Your role will involve monitoring maternal and fetal well-being, administering medications, assisting with labor induction, providing emotional support, and facilitating the birthing process. Responsibilities and Duties:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of expectant mothers' health status and develop individualized care plans.
- Monitor maternal vital signs including blood pressure, heart rate, and temperature throughout labor and delivery.
- Observe fetal heart rate patterns to assess the well-being of the baby.
- Administer medications, including pain management techniques and anesthesia under the supervision of an anesthesiologist, as required.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to assist in emergency situations.
- Support and coach expectant mothers through the labor process, offering guidance and educational resources.
- Assist in various medical procedures such as cesarean sections, forceps deliveries, and vacuum-assisted deliveries.
- Promote breastfeeding and provide guidance on infant care and postpartum recovery.
- Document all patient interactions, interventions, and outcomes using electronic medical records (EMRs).
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies, guidelines, and regulatory standards to provide high-quality care.
- Participate in continuous education and professional development opportunities to stay updated with the latest advancements in labor and delivery nursing.
- Foster a positive and supportive work environment by collaborating with colleagues and participating in team-building activities.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Valid and active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred, but an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) is acceptable.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Labor & Delivery RN preferred.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required.
- Strong knowledge of and experience in obstetrics, labor and delivery, and postpartum care.
- Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Proficient in using electronic medical records (EMRs) and healthcare software.
