RMA of NJ is looking for a Temporary Sterile Processing Tech in our Basking Ridge location to cover every other weekend working 7am-3pm from July -September. We do ask that you do five days of paid training as well.
Job Purpose:
The Sterile Processing Technician is assigned duties performing decontamination, preparation, sterilization and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment throughout the surgery center, utilizing infection control and safety practices during all phases of the process.
Essential Functions and Accountabilities:

Verifies equipment functions properly, requisitions for equipment maintenance, repair or replacement, and removes defective equipment.

Maintains a clean and sanitary work area at all times.

Assists with maintaining established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives as well as quality improvement, safety, and environmental and infection control standards.

Decontaminates, inspects and sterilizes instruments, medical supplies and equipment.

Assembles, wraps and sterilizes instrument trays.

Monitors biological and chemical wash solution to ensure quality and consistency for decontamination of instruments and medical equipment.

Performs steam and high-level sterilization of instruments and medical devices.

Performs and records all quality control monitoring.

Checks for packaging integrity and expiration dates on all sterile items.

Restocks, labels, and maintains inventory, submits requisitions, collects and distributes instruments and trays.

Performs maintenance duties and assists in maintaining inventory levels in sterile processing, the operating room, and in equipment storage areas.
Academic Training:
-
High school diploma or GED
-
Studies level: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)

Graduate of a nationally accredited educational program for surgical technologists and hold a certified surgical technologist credential - OR –
-
Has a minimum two years’ experience as a surgical instrument technician prior to January 1, 2015 and required written employment documentation.
Position Requirements/Experience:

Previous experience in women's health or reproductive endocrinology and infertility – preferred
-
2+ years of experience as a sterile processing technician - required
Technical Skills:
-
Knowledge of all AAMI sterilization processes
-
Ability to effectively operate all pieces of equipment utilized within the scope of this job.

Proficient in computer programs including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
