qathet Midwifery Care in Powell River is looking for a full-time Registered Midwife to cover a 14 month maternity leave from mid-October 2025, with a flexible start date, to January 2027.
Position Details
- 0.9-1.0 FTE, including 7-8 24h call shifts + 4-5 clinic days per month
- 2-midwife shared prenatal caseload
- shared call amongst all midwives + GPs for approximately 120 EDDs per year
- start date flexible up until end Nov
- very flexible scheduling to accommodate extended time off + holidays
- 8-10 RMLP days, dependant on policy changes.
- rural experience + recent ACoRN training preferred
- IOL, CS assist certificate optional
qMC is comprised of 4 full-time midwives caring for nearly 100% of the regions pregnant population. We work out of qathet General Hospital, a Level 1 facility, and have an excellent working relationship with our maternity RNs, OB, and 2 GPs who occasionally support call. We offer both home and hospital birth, attend CS as ‘baby doc', manage IOLs, and assist with CS.
Powell River is on the beautiful upper Sunshine Coast and uniquely accessible by ferry only. This area is prized for its mild weather, sunny Summers, ocean-view from nearly everywhere, and easy access to outdoor activities and Vancouver Island.
