Job Overview
Certified Nurse Midwife opportunity in beautiful NW Montana, near Glacier National Park. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Midwife to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate practices the midwifery model of care and provides comprehensive care to women during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum periods, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for both mothers and newborns. This role requires a strong commitment to patient-centered care and a deep respect for the childbirth experience. The ideal candidate should have strong clinical skills, a commitment to patient education, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Heart & Hands is privately owned and consists of a team of 4 CNM's, 2 FNPs, and a PA, along with wonderful support staff. We provide full family practice as well as midwifery care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct gynecological exams, family planning counseling, and preventive health screenings
- Provide holistic, evidence-based women's health services, prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn care
- Manage low-risk deliveries and recognize high-risk conditions that require physician consultation or transfer of care
- Maintain accurate and thorough medical records in compliance with regulatory standards and practice policy
- Perform medical documentation accurately to maintain comprehensive patient records
- Collaborate with obstetricians, MFM's, family physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care
- Stay current with best practices and advancements in midwifery care
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Experience in providing labor and delivery care in a hospital setting
- Proficient in medical documentation practices to ensure accurate patient records
- Experience or training in sonography techniques for prenatal assessments is preferred
- Knowledge of discharge planning processes to facilitate smooth transitions from hospital to home care
- Familiarity with operating room (OR) protocols during delivery procedures, including first assist with cesarean sections
- Strong skills in conducting physical examinations relevant to women's health care
- Knowledge in birth control options, as well as placing IUD's and Nexplanons
- Experience in providing inclusive and affirming care for transgender and LGBTQIA+ patients preferred
- Experience working in both hospital environments and outpatient settings is beneficial
- Excellent patient monitoring skills to assess maternal and fetal well-being continuously
- Competence in specimen collection processing for laboratory analysis
- Understanding of NICU protocols and procedures is an asset
Experience, Education and Credentials:
- Current certification as a Nurse Midwife (CNM) by the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB)
- Active and unrestricted RN and APRN licenses in Montana or eligibility to obtain licensure without delay
- Minimum of one year experience as a CNM preferred, but new graduates with strong, relevant clinical skills are encouraged to apply
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusting relationships with patients
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous professional development
