This post is for a 12 month fixed term Locum Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist . This is a replacement post for a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist for Rapid Access Pathway
The successful candidate will join a busy Obstetrics and Gynaecology Team in a London district general hospital. We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate to join a progressive department of 18 consultants, each with their own special interest.
The successful candidate is expected to be able to fully support both obstetric and emergency gynaecology activity within the limits of their job plan. The successful candidate will support the existing 1 in 15 on call rota, feto-maternal day care assessment unit, antenatal and post-natal ward rounds, and general gynaecology duties.
Obstetric on-call is 17:00-22:00 weekdays, including Prospective Cover and 08:00-22:00 on Saturday & Sunday.
Gynae "Hot week" Monday - Friday (08:00 - 17:30), including Prospective Cover.
Category A on-call at 3% intensity/frequency

The successful candidate will have responsibility for general antenatal clinics, one stop gynaecology services including rapid access services with multiple out-patient gynaecological procedures inviting best practice tariff procedures. The post also requires the appointee to cover labour ward, caesarean section lists, gynaecological theatres and emergency gynaecological operating out of hours. The post holder is expected to participate in the ongoing progressive transformation of services and will be expected to improve the existing service. The job plan will also include advice and guidance/referral assessment service, which is expected to improve the referral quality of patients being referred to hospital for gynaecological services.
