The functions of the Women's Health RN: Cervical Care Coordinator include, but are not limited to:
1. Monitoring cervical cancer screening measures with focus on processes to improve the cervical cancer screening metric to meet facility and national benchmarks.
2. Responsible for management and tracking of cervical screening results and ensuring timeliness of patient notification results by ordering provider for normal and abnormal results.
3. Educates staff on cervical cancer screening guidelines, gynecology testing/ procedures (i.e. HPV, Colonoscopies) and provides resources as needed.
4. Documenting patient care interactions accurately, succinctly, and timely, using appropriate notes, templates, and clinical reminders, in the electronic medical record.
5. Provides coverage for breast health coordinator for tracking of breast imaging results to ensure timeliness of patient notification and coordination of follow up appointments as needed.
6. Participates in Women's health events and activities including women's health outreach events, resource fairs, focus groups, and town halls.
7. Provides education to patients and staff regarding infertility eligibility and IVF process. Communicates regular updates and provide resources to vets approved for IVF.
8. Provides assistance and review of gynecology referrals including reproductive health requests and community care RFS (return for service) referrals.
9. Contacts patients who are delinquent in obtaining recommended cervical cancer screening or other diagnostic screenings to determine and resolve obstacles the veteran may have with keeping appointments.
10. Utilizing and maintaining tracking spreadsheets and monitoring/tracking data systems as required by VHA Directives and Handbooks, as well as per requests of the WHPM and WHMD.
11. Participates in meetings and Women's health process improvement initiatives including system redesign, to improve access, quality, efficiency, and patient satisfaction.
