Registered Nurse/Nurse Coordinator – Third Party Team
The Gestational Carrier Nurse Coordinator demonstrates advanced knowledge and skills related to fertility treatment in the care of IVF and third party reproduction patients such as Gestational Carrier (GC) and Intended Parent (IP) patients. This position directly reports to the Nurse Manager and the Assistant Nurse Manager and should function in an independent fashion, taking direction from the physicians as it relates to specific patient care concerns. This position should be responsible, attentive to details and have a desire to develop professionally.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Monitor, develop, and coordinate care for all IP and GC patients including in-vitro fertilization cycles and embryo transfer cycles.

Provide initial patient consultation after consultation with physician.

Responsible to provide education including nursing consult and medication teaching to patient to prepare them to undergo procedures/testing related to infertility testing, in vitro fertilization, frozen embryo transfer, and egg vitrification, etc.

Coordinate all infertility diagnostic tests and treatment plans with patient at direction of physician.

Coordinate IP/GC calendars and protocols. Answer patient questions regarding patient cycles and calendars.

Responsible for patient scheduling, and coordinates ART with IVF lab/surgery center.

Responsible to assure all consents are signed in a timely manner.

Responsible to assure that communicable disease testing is complete, accurate, and appropriate.

Responsible to see that all patient documents are reviewed, accurately placed in the EMR, and discussed with physician.

Collaborate with physician in developing and implementing a treatment plan appropriate to individual patient.

Follow up after ultrasound with IP/GC patient each day, including ultrasounds, lab tests and results, physician orders, psychological evaluation and outcome, and other related items.

Accountability for infertility/IVF patients each day, including ultrasounds, lab tests, physician orders, and other related items.

Review with physician all patient lab work or workups received from out of state physician offices and laboratories.

Call medication dosages to patients after coordination with physician.

Responsible for accurate, detailed and complete charting as well as FDA documentation on patients.

Prepare GC patient for mock cycle if applicable.

Provide compassion and emotional support to patient throughout their infertility experience.

Assurance that all specific physician instructions and workup items are carried out for treatment cycles and prior to calendar creation.

Responsible for ongoing communication and documentation between the physician and the patient.

Call patients with surgery schedule notification and instruction.

Monitor established pregnancies via ultrasonography and lab tests, through the first 8-12 weeks of pregnancy and documents updates in the patient’s EMR.

Monitor the number of weekly starts.

Assure pregnancy outcomes are complete for SART data.

Assist with quality improvement projects and research projects.

Maintain professional standing by continued professional education and organizational memberships.

Participate in educating and/or training nurses, as directed.

Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Current Colorado Registered Nurse license.

Current BLS certification
-
Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing preferred.

Minimum of 5 years of related work experience. Women’s Health and/or infertility experience preferred.

Strong computer skills, ability to use basic office equipment.

Strong ability to follow procedures and protocols is essential.

Must be organized with a strong ability to multi-task, prioritize and have a strong attention to detail and a strong ability to utilize time efficiently.

Understands and assess for domestic violence and child abuse issues and reporting responsibilities. Will report concerns to Medical Director or Nurse Manager.

Ability to work weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis with other teammates.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This job operates in a professional office and clinical setting with frequent use of medical instrumentation and equipment, supplies and materials. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, including computer keyboards and mice; telephones, photocopiers; scanners; and filing cabinets.
The duties of this position involves an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids or tissues or a potential for spills and splashes of them. Appropriate protective measures are required for every employee engaged in these tasks. The duties of this position also involve occasionally exerting 75 pounds of force, and/or up to 35 pounds of force frequently.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, see and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit; will occasionally stand and/or walk; use hands and fingers to grasp, pick, pinch, type; and reach with arms and hands. This position will be a 4 day/week position. This is a 10hr/day position, working primarily Monday through Friday, 7:30am-6pm. This position will rotate weekends and holidays with other staff members.
This is a full time, benefitted position, working 40hrs/week.
