Main duties of the job
We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with a special interest in rapid access and colposcopy to join our friendly and enthusiastic team. The successful candidates will join other substantive Consultants in providing the highest quality care possible for our women.
The successful applicant would be expected to be able to provide regular Colposcopy and Rapid access (two week wait) services. The consultant will also be expected to participate in intrapartum Obstetrics to ensure provision of the hours of consultant presence as required by the RCOG. It is also expected that the applicant will be willing and able to work as part of the wider multi professional team, and forge good working relationships with other clinical staff

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
This post is combination of general obstetrics and gynaecology. It is expected that the post holder would have had previous experience working in high risk obstetric units and in performing complex caesarean sections, as well as competence/ experience in antenatal care.
There will be a regular resident 3rd on call session on a rolling rota with 18 consultants. This comprises long days, night shifts, and gynaecology “hot weeks” 8am-5pm. There will also be regular antenatal/gynaecology clinics. These will either be stand alone or alongside another consultant, and which will be worked on any of our four sites (William Harvey Hospital, Royal Victoria Hospital Folkestone, Buckland Hospital Dover and Kent & Canterbury Hospital). The successful applicant will be able to participate in regular theatre lists if desired.
The basic job plan will contain 10 Programmed Activities per week. The precise number of Programmed Activities may vary from week to week around the average assessment set out in the Job Plan.

MRCOG
Proven tract of pelvic side wall dissection and high risk caesarean sections
ATSM advanced labour ward practice or equivalent
Colposcopy accreditation or will achieve within 6 months
Desirable criteria
ATSM in benign gynaecology or gynaeoncology
Qualifications and training

Full GMC Registration
GMC Specialist Registration in obstetrics and gynaecology or will obtain within 6 months of interview
