Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our team at a Level I Trauma Center. In this vital role, you will provide exceptional care to expectant mothers during labor and delivery, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for both mother and child. Your expertise in patient assessment, acute pain management, and health coaching will be essential in guiding families through the childbirth process.
Duties
- Monitor and assess the health status of mothers and newborns throughout the labor and delivery process.
- Administer medications and injections as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans.
- Provide education and support to patients regarding childbirth options, pain management techniques, and post-delivery care.
- Assist in the delivery of newborns, ensuring immediate care is provided as needed.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments to identify any complications or changes in condition.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient information, including ICD-10 coding for diagnoses.
- Participate in health coaching initiatives to promote overall wellness for mothers before, during, and after delivery.
- Provide care for pediatric patients when necessary, ensuring their safety and comfort.
Requirements
- Current nursing license (RN) with a focus on labor and delivery or maternal-child health.
- Experience in a Level I Trauma Center preferred.
- Proficiency in patient assessment skills with a strong understanding of acute pain management techniques.
- Familiarity with ICD-10 coding is advantageous.
- Experience administering injections safely and effectively.
- Knowledge of pediatric care principles is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while maintaining excellent communication skills.
