We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our team in providing exceptional care to expectant mothers and their newborns. As a vital member of our healthcare team, you will play a crucial role in the labor and delivery process, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients during one of the most significant moments of their lives. Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to women during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments to monitor maternal and fetal well-being.
- Assist with the development and implementation of individualized care plans based on patient needs.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation throughout the labor and delivery process.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal outcomes for mothers and infants.
- Educate patients and families about the labor process, pain management options, breastfeeding, and newborn care.
- Support patients with disabilities by adapting care approaches as needed.
- Participate in emergency procedures as necessary, including ventilating patients when required.
- Stay informed about current practices in internal medicine as they relate to obstetric care.
Skills
- Proficient in patient assessment techniques to evaluate maternal and fetal health.
- Experience working within a Level I Trauma Center is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical records management systems to ensure accurate documentation.
- Familiarity with workers' compensation law as it pertains to maternity care is advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities, ensuring inclusive care practices.
- Basic knowledge of mammography procedures is a plus but not mandatory.
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
Qualifications
- Grad of an Accredited Program
- Specialized field of study should be nursing.
- A current and valid nursing license.
- Must have BLS certification or get it within 30 days of starting in this role.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $32.00 - $53.00 per hour
