Main duties of the job
An amazing fixed term opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly motivated Band 6 Midwife, with a commitment to promoting excellence in education, to join the Maternity Practice Education Team.
The Maternity Practice Education Team provides a wide array of training opportunities designed to support staff in developing and maintaining their skills. The team is responsible for the training of over 300 colleagues locally and also participates in regional training initiatives. This role presents an outstanding opportunity to develop your leadership skills and engage in ongoing professional development.

Key Responsibilities
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Facilitate a supportive environment for learners during clinical placements.
- Support and develop practice supervisors and assessors to aid them with practice supervision.
- Collaborate closely with partner universities to support students in practice.
- Maintain a prominent presence in practice, assisting staff and students with their clinical skills and competencies.
- Mentor newly registered midwives throughout their preceptorship period.
- Support the delivery of the preceptorship programme.
- Assist with mandatory training days.
- Guide new Band 6 midwives during their local Trust induction.
- Assist new staff from diverse recruitment pathways.

Qualifications, Knowledge And Experience
Essential criteria
- Professional requirements e.g. Registered Nurse or Registered Professional or Non-registered support worker etc
- Professional knowledge acquired through degree education or equivalent experience
- Mentoring / coaching / education qualification to postgraduate diploma level or equivalent evidence of supporting learners in practice.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
- Significant experience within relevant field
- Experience of educating others in a formal or informal setting
- Broad awareness of Trust initiatives/pressures
Desirable criteria
- Education at a master's degree level
- Further education at a master's degree level in relevant practice area
- Leadership qualification or significant equivalent experience
- Previous Band 6 experience
- Further evidence of speciality competence
