Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a skilled Embryologist to join our laboratory team. This role is central to the delivery of high-standard Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) services, contributing to patient care through expert lab techniques, patient interactions, and the mentoring of junior staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform and oversee core embryology procedures
- Ensure compliance with SI 158 of 2006, SI 598 of 2007, and all internal SOPs
- Support laboratory systems and equipment, including electronic witnessing and alarm monitoring
- Make daily clinical decisions including embryo transfer and cryopreservation
- Provide guidance and training to junior and trainee embryologists
- Maintain high standards of data handling, patient confidentiality, and documentation
- Communicate complex scientific information clearly to patients
- Participate in audits, research, CPD, and implementation of new protocols
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma or degree in Medical or Biological Sciences
- Minimum 3 years’ post-qualification experience in an IVF laboratory
- Proficiency in embryology techniques including IVF, ICSI, embryo handling and cryopreservation
- Strong knowledge of ART regulations, quality systems, and laboratory protocols
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Desired Qualifications & Experience:
- Membership of Irish Clinical Embryologists or equivalent body
- Ability to work on own initiative
