The Maternity Unit, Launceston General Hospital:
- The Launceston General Hospital (LGH) is the major referral hospital in Northern Tasmania.
- As a Registered Midwife you will be part of the team that delivers approximately 1,600 newborn babies each year. With a 6 bed Labour Ward, 30 bed Maternity and 9 bed Special Care Unit your work will be fast paced and very rewarding.

The Role
This position isn’t just another job in another hospital – it can be your chance to demonstrate your strong clinical acumen, and influence and foster an enthusiastic team of health professionals.
You will:
- Join a group of clinicians with diverse skills and a common culture of safe patient and staff care.
- Provide advice, care, and support to women during pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period including care of the newborn.
- Work as part of a small team providing continuity of care to women during their pregnancy, birth and post natal period in both the hospital and community setting.
- Working as a day worker with on call under the Caseload Midwifery Agreement with 35% loading.
- Show initiative, being adaptable and able to respond and adjust easily to change.
- Be resilient, persevering to achieve your goals in the face of obstacles and remaining calm and in control under pressure.
In MGP we have a strong woman centred approach where maternal wishes are valued and when these are outside hospital guidelines, respectful collaboration between caregivers occurs to achieve optimal outcomes. The backing of the medical team, and using a collaborative approach. We are also fortunate to be supported by Antenatal Clinic and core staff in Pregnancy Assessment Clinic, Birth Suite and Post natal ward. This position offers a more autonomous and potentially higher-rewarding career path for midwives.

Details of Appointment:
Permanent part time, day worker position, working up to 64 hours per fortnight, commencing 15 June.

Salary: $78,179 to $105,995 pro rata per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
Access to the Grade 4 salary range $99,455- $105,995 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type
- Plus 35% case loading
