Job Summary
The Labor and Delivery Nurse plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive care to expectant mothers during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. This position requires a compassionate and skilled nurse who can assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care of women in labor. The Labor and Delivery Nurse collaborates with obstetricians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective delivery experiences for mothers and their newborns.
Duties
- Monitor the health status of mothers and infants throughout labor and delivery.
- Provide education and support to families regarding labor processes, pain management options, and postpartum care.
- Administer medications as prescribed and manage acute pain effectively.
- Assist in the development of individualized care plans based on patient needs.
- Conduct assessments to identify potential complications during labor.
- Facilitate family planning discussions and provide relevant resources.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
- Document all nursing assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in medical records.
- Provide health coaching to new parents regarding infant care and breastfeeding.
- Support patients with disabilities by adapting care approaches as needed.
Skills
- Proficient in acute pain management techniques to ensure comfort during labor.
- Knowledgeable in family planning practices to assist patients in making informed decisions.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities to provide inclusive care.
- Familiarity with esthetic laser treatment protocols is a plus.
- Understanding of internal medicine principles as they relate to obstetric care.
- Ability to provide inpatient care effectively within a hospital setting.
- Competence in memory care strategies for patients with cognitive impairments during pregnancy or postpartum recovery.
- Strong foundation in primary care practices relevant to maternal health.
- Skilled in performing procedures such as spinal taps when necessary.

Pay: $2,448.00 - $2,592.00 per week
