About The Role
Hall Prangle is seeking to hire a full-time experienced Legal Nurse Consultant in its Las Vegas office who has at least five (5) years’ experience as a litigation paralegal (knowledge of healthcare law/medical malpractice is a plus). The Legal Nurse Consultant will work alongside attorneys during all phases of the litigation process, from the initiation of a case through trial. The right candidate will be skilled and hard-working as well as pleasant and personable.
Billable Responsibilities (Billable hours goal of 1,500 hours per year)
- Review and analyze medical records, pre-existing or co-existing medical conditions, billings, notes of physicians and nurses, charts, pleadings, discovery, deposition transcripts, and insurance documents.
- Conduct medical research to translate and interpret medical/nursing terms, diagnoses, and treatment plans; outline relevant deviations and adherences to Standards of Care.
- Evaluate strengths and weaknesses of medical evidence and identify exclusions, oversights and discrepancies.
- Organize and prepare outlines and narrative summaries of digested medical records for presentation to clients and for use during depositions/trial.
- Educate attorneys regarding relevant medical issues.
- Assist with the preparation of demonstrative evidence for trial.
- Assist with preparation for and support during deposition and trial.
- Process authorizations requesting medical/collateral source records.
- Work with expert witnesses including assisting them in preparation of trial.
What You Will Need To Succeed
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree required
- Critical care clinical background desired
- Experience in medical malpractice defense litigation desired
- Able to multitask in a fast-paced environment required
- Excellent writing, interpersonal and organizational skills required
- Must be proficient with Outlook, MS Word and Excel
- Experience and knowledge of TrialPad a plus
- Detail oriented and accurate
