The primary purpose of the position: The Communications Specialist (PR) of the Surrogacy Agency is responsible for developing and implementing strategic communication plans to enhance the agency's public image, reputation, and brand awareness. They play a crucial role in managing external communications, fostering positive relationships with the media, and promoting the agency's services to various stakeholders, including intended parents, potential surrogates, and the general public.
Duties and Responsibilities:
● Develop and execute comprehensive PR strategies and campaigns to generate positive media coverage and increase visibility for the agency's mission, values, and services.
● Cultivate and maintain relationships with journalists, bloggers, influencers, and other media professionals to secure media placements, interviews, and editorial coverage.
● Write and distribute press releases, media pitches, articles, and other materials to relevant media outlets, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with the agency`s messaging and objectives.
● Monitor media coverage and public sentiment related to surrogacy and fertility issues, proactively identifying opportunities for proactive media engagement and crisis communication management.
● Serve as the agency`s spokesperson and media liaison, responding to media inquiries, interview requests, and public inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
● Coordinate media events, press conferences, and promotional activities to raise awareness about the agency`s programs, achievements, and impact in the community.
● Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including marketing, legal, and clinical teams, to develop communication materials, such as FAQs, talking points, and social media content, to support PR initiatives.
● Stay informed about developments in the surrogacy industry, relevant legislation, and emerging trends to provide strategic counsel and guidance to the agency`s leadership team.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor`s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field; master`s degree preferred.
● Proven experience in PR and media relations, preferably in the healthcare or nonprofit sector, with a strong track record of securing media coverage and managing PR campaigns.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling stories, press materials, and messaging tailored to diverse audiences.
● Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with media contacts, stakeholders, and internal team members.
● Crisis communication expertise and the ability to remain calm under pressure while effectively managing sensitive issues and reputational risks.
● Proficiency in media monitoring tools, PR software, and social media platforms to track media coverage, analyze metrics, and measure the impact of PR efforts.
● Knowledge of surrogacy laws, regulations, and ethical guidelines is desirable but not required.
● Creative thinking, attention to detail, and a passion for advocating for reproductive rights and family-building options through surrogacy.
