The Molecular Technician / Technologist is responsible for performing high complexity molecular testing at our lab. They are also responsible for the performance of patient clinical testing to include specimen processing, test performance, and reporting test results.
- Receive and accession microbiology and molecular specimens and determine acceptability.

Reject specimens that do not meet laboratory acceptability criteria.

Recognize when information presented on requisitions is unclear and ambiguous and follow corrective actions to be taken.

Set up, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment according to established protocols.

Perform all maintenance and quality control according to established protocols.
- Record, analyze and interpret data.

Keep supplies fully stocked for department.

Assist Supervisor with supply inventory.

Utilize appropriate resources to answer inquiries for basic customer related issues.

Understand and follow all company policy and procedures including those relating to safety and quality assurance.

Responsible for the performance of patient clinical testing which includes pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical duties such as specimen processing, test performance and reporting test results.

Follow all established protocols and procedures for all testing platforms.

Validate methods to meet client requirements, as appropriate.

Compliance with all HIPAA rules, regulations, and guidelines.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in science or equivalent preferred.

Minimum 2 years of successful clinical laboratory experience.

Florida License, ASCP license preferred.

Ability to use a computer and enter data efficiently, including Microsoft office programs

Knowledge of Orchard laboratory information system preferred.

Knowledge of eClinicalWorks EMR preferred.

Ability to read interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction and procedure manuals.

Proficient in data entry and record keeping.

Great attention to detail.

Ability to multi-task, be self-motivated, reliable, accountable, and conscientious.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Must possess the ability to interact and communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of internal personnel, providers, personnel of outside organizations, and patients and their family members.
