Job overview
We require a midwife who is passionate about managing MAU/Maternity Triage at Newham University Hospital, ensuring that optimal use is made of available resources to provide appropriate and effective cover over any 24hour period .

The ward manager will work along with the multidisciplinary team you will be responsible for overseeing the safe delivery of service in the Maternity Assessment Unit/Triage ensuring the delivery of safe and high quality care. You will lead and champion the current triage system in BSOTS

Essential criteria
- A minimum of two years as a registered midwife
- Proven experience of effective working in a multidisciplinary setting
Desirable criteria
- Experience of managing a team/service
- Experience in the MAU/Triage setting
- Experience in the MAU/Triage setting

- Obstetric Course
- Master’s degree or working towards
Experience
Essential criteria
- Ability to practice clinically within a fully integrated Maternity service.
- Organisational skills, Flexible and Adaptable
- Proven leadership skills, Able to lead, develop and motivate staff
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of initiating and implementing change processes.
- Knowledge and experience of using Datix and audit
- Clinical experience with BSOTS
- Ability to devise and deliver training
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Clinical skilled with cannulation, perineal suturing, CTG interpretation skills
- IT skills including clinical systems, outlook and email, and Microsoft office
- Ability to coach and motivate staff to accept change and service development
- Ability to demonstrate flexibility in approach to work patterns
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge and experience of risk management
- Understanding of complaints management.
- Experiences of taking forth service developments, monitoring and evaluation of effectiveness
- Understanding of the role of PMA
Skills
Essential criteria
- Registered Midwife qualified to degree level Such as to meet the requirements of the role with any reasonable adjustments
- Practice Assessor/Mentorship qualification /’sign off’ mentor
