Job Description
Job Title: Labor and Delivery Nurse, Obstetrics RN
Job Summary:
As a Labor and Delivery Nurse, Obstetrics RN, you will play a vital role in providing care and support to women during childbirth. You will assess the health of both mother and baby, monitor vital signs, administer medications, and assist with the delivery process. Your compassionate and skilled care will help ensure a safe and positive birthing experience for both the mother and her newborn.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Monitor laboring mothers and their babies, assessing progress and responding to any complications
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and pain relief as needed
- Assist with delivery, including providing emotional support and coaching during the birthing process
- Care for newborns, including conducting assessments, administering medications, and providing initial care
- Educate mothers on postpartum care and newborn care procedures
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare team members to provide comprehensive care to patients
Qualifications and Skills:
- Active RN license
- BSN preferred
- Certification in Obstetrics
- 2+ years of experience in labor and delivery nursing
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment
- Compassionate and caring attitude towards patients
- Ability to think critically and make quick decisions in emergency situations
