Job Description
Job title: Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery
Job Summary: As a Registered Nurse specializing in Labor and Delivery, you will be responsible for providing care and support to pregnant women before, during, and after childbirth. You will work closely with obstetricians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the safe and healthy delivery of newborns.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Monitor the progress of labor and perform assessments on both mother and baby
2. Administer medications as needed and assist with pain management techniques
3. Assist with the delivery process and provide immediate postpartum care
4. Educate new mothers on breastfeeding, newborn care, and postpartum recovery
5. Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure a safe and supportive environment for laboring mothers
6. Document all patient interactions and interventions accurately and in a timely manner
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid RN license and certification in Labor and Delivery nursing
2. Previous experience working in a labor and delivery setting preferred
3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
4. Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure
5. Proficiency in monitoring fetal heart rates and identifying signs of distress
6. Knowledge of childbirth procedures and techniques
