The post holder will be a member of CHSIST. We are a diverse team working innovatively within a think family agenda to include expertise in Adult, Children, (including Children Looked After) and Maternity Safeguarding. We are a large team with a range of expertise across safeguarding offering an exciting opportunity to join us as a specialist safeguarding advisor.
The post holder will be a highly visible senior midwife and as such expected to provide support, knowledge, advice and clinical expertise to all staff in maternity services in all areas of safeguarding including children, young people and adults of concern.
To work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team and partner agencies to ensure that pregnant women and their babies who come into contact with services Croydon University Hospital and Croydon Health Services are safeguarded and that their welfare is promoted.
Professional / Clinical
To ensure that the Trust’s systems and procedures for safeguarding pregnant women and their babies are regularly monitored, evaluated and reviewed to minimise risk in the antenatal period.
Work closely with all the members of CHIST including named professionals and designated professionals and relevant partner agencies.
To provide expert professional advice and support regarding safeguarding children to clinical staff and other front line staff within maternity services. This will also include issues relating to adult safeguarding and domestic violence.
To ensure staff support and advice is readily available and that there is clear guidance as to whom to contact for out of hours.
Croydon Health Services provides integrated NHS services to care for people at home, in schools, and health clinics across the borough as well as at Croydon University Hospital and Purley War Memorial Hospital. CUH provides more than 100 specialist services and is home to the borough’s only Emergency Department and 24/7 maternity services, including a labour ward, midwifery-led birth centre and the Crocus home birthing team. Purley War Memorial Hospital (PWMH) in the south of the borough offers outpatient care, including diagnostic services, physiotherapy and ophthalmology services run by Moorfields Eye Hospital, alongside an onsite GP surgery.Our experienced staff take care of people of all ages across the borough of Croydon.
