Job Description Summary:
Under guidance from the Director of research information technology; this individual will perform basic to intermediate-level data management including data cleaning, data entry, and report generation; participate in project meetings with collaborators; meet with end users for an in-depth understanding of informatics needs and requirements for a broad range of projects; train employees on the use of BI applications; and assist with the preparation of written reports, manuscripts, and grant applications with investigators under the supervision of a Biostatistics & Data Science member.

This Data Manager (Sunflower-MOMS Grants Data Coordinator) will be responsible for data coordination for a statewide network dedicated to developing and testing a sustainable model for rural obstetrical management strategies to improve maternal-neonatal and infant outcomes for Kansas.

Serve as the liaison concerning all data-related issues for network members, Nurse Navigators/Data Abstractors, hospitals outside the network, program partners, and employees.

Develop data-related communication materials for Sunflower-MOMS partners, network-level meetings, and/or reporting requirements.

Develop timelines for data requests, program evaluation, and reports.

Respond to requests for data, organize, and visually present data for review by Project Evaluator and/or HRSA-designated program evaluator.

Assure compliance to all data privacy requirements during data sharing between network partners, Project Evaluator, and/or HRSA-designated program evaluator. Ensure safety, security, and integrity of all data files from the Sunflower-MOMS network partners.

Prepare data for the Sunflower Health Network, Sunflower-MOMS meetings, Project Evaluator, Project Director, and/or HRSA-designated program evaluator.

Assist with the development of a data management system among Sunflower-MOMS network partners, Project Evaluator, and/or HRSA-designated program evaluator.

Identify and implement data collection strategies among Sunflower-MOMS network partners, Project Evaluator, and/or HRSA-designated program evaluator.

Ensure that data files are properly merged to maintain unique, de-identified, patient-level data.

Manage documentation of data to include timely filing of all federal requirements.

Fulfill data requests related to preparation of periodic progress reports.

Provide support related to data management to the Project Director, Project Evaluator, and Maternal Fetal Medicine experts, and other team members as needed.

Manage communication and assist various teams regarding data-related requests, program evaluation, and reporting requirements with Sunflower-MOMS partners, Project Evaluator, and/or HRSA-designated program evaluator.

Analyzes data within various databases utilizing various BI tools, and Reporting Tools to inform business decisions and actions.

Write database documentation, including data standards, procedures, and definitions for the data dictionary.

Trains pertinent staff and other end-users as needed on BI Applications, and trains other BI Specialists on various BI Tools.

Troubleshoots user issues with the BI Applications in a timely and effective manner. Responsible for reviewing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures and the change control documents in collaboration with the Training and Education Department.

Remains compliant with federal and other regulatory guidelines as well as general system administration and oversight in cooperation with the Director of Research I.T.

Prepares reports, manuscripts, and grant applications for investigators under the supervision of Biostatistics & Data Science member.
Required Qualifications
Education: Associate's degree in computer science or information technology or related field with at least 4 years of relevant experience.
Work Experience:
-
Experience with troubleshooting data-related issues using logical problem-solving methods and process of elimination.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products or equivalent.
- Experience working in a Windows environment.
- Working Knowledge of Relational databases.

Experience in creating, conducting training and documenting Metadata such as data dictionaries that are utilized for research. .
Preferred Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or related field with at least 2 years of relevant experience or a Masters degree in similar field of study.
Work Experience:
-
Two years of experience in academic or private health-related research environments.
- Prior experience developing Tableau and Shiny R dashboards. Experience programming in at least one higher level language (C, C++, Java).
- Experience with software integration such as LDAP, Active directory. PL/SQL, SQL functions, triggers, complex queries, SQL reports.

Working knowledge of relational databases such as Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, and Business Intelligence tools.
- Experience with database migration, database development, database maintenance performance tuning and optimization, and setting up and managing database connections.
- Automation of ETL process between databases.
- Proficiency in the R, Python, Tableau or SAS. Experience working in a LINUX/UNIX environment.

Compensation Statement:
The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
