Job Title: OB Scrub Tech

Hours: 36 hours per week (3 x 12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
PAY : $37-$40(hourly)
Shift Schedule: Every other weekend, 3 out of 6 holidays required. No on-call requirement.
Job Summary:
The OB Scrub Tech is a certified professional who works in the surgical suite under the direction of a Registered Nurse. You will play an essential role in assisting with surgeries, maintaining sterile technique, and ensuring that surgical instruments and supplies are prepared and available. This position requires a multi-skilled individual who will assist in the direct and indirect care of antepartum and postpartum patients, as well as help maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sterile Technique: Maintain sterile technique in the operative area, including proper scrub, gown, and glove techniques.
- Surgical Assistance: Assist the surgeon in various procedures such as Cesarean Section, Hysterectomy, Dilation and Curettage, and repair of cervical lacerations.
- Instrument Management: Arrange the operating table appropriately and pass instruments. Maintain accurate sponge and instrument counts throughout the procedure.
- Patient Care: Assist and support nursing staff with the direct and indirect care of patients, including the antepartum and postpartum populations.
- Supply Management: Order and stock supplies for the operating room, PACU, labor rooms, and related areas, ensuring readiness for procedures.
- Patient Information: Communicate potential problems and changes in patient condition to the nursing team, ensuring timely updates.
- Emergency Response: Stay calm and exercise sound judgment in emergency situations, helping to manage patient care during crises and assisting with patient and family needs.
- Clinical Practice: Adhere to current NJ Department of Health regulations, JCAHO standards, and institutional policies to provide the best possible patient outcomes.
- Patient Safety: Ensure that patient belongings are secured, labeled, and sent with the patient upon discharge, transfer, or expiration.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure safe, effective patient care and contribute to a supportive, team-oriented work environment.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of prior OB Tech or Surgical Tech experience in an acute care setting (required).
- Certifications:
- Certified OB Technician
- BLS (AHA) certification
