Capital Women's Care provides total women's healthcare at the highest medical and ethical standards. This is a great opportunity to join our Lab within Capital Women's Care. CWC is a 150+ group of OB/GYNs located throughout Greater Washington, DC, Northern Virginia and Maryland. We are seeking a highly skilled Lab Billing Specialist to handle billing and coding, accurately processing of assigned lab charges. This person will support CWC Lab staff with EHR charge pass, RCx claims scrub, and AR follow up concerns.
Responsibilities
· Responsible for verifying eligibility and benefits for laboratory services to ensure accurate and efficient processing.
· Troubleshoot accounts receivable follow-up and address insurance-related inquiries effectively.
· Manage charge entry independently for all services processed by the CWC Lab.
· Maintain clear and prompt communication with the ordering physician’s office to facilitate timely lab payment.
· Review and update patient demographics in collaboration with the ordering physician’s office to ensure accurate billing.
· Follow up with the NextGen RCM team and insurance payers on unpaid and underpaid claims, ensuring resolution.
· Assist the ordering physician’s billing team with documentation and billing process for laboratory services as needed.
· Serve as a liaison to promote effective communication between the CWC Lab team, RCM Director and RCM AR team.
Requirements
· Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
· Three to five years of healthcare experience in billing and coding
· Prior experience with healthcare billing expertise.
· Prior experience with data entry management.
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.
· Knowledge of NextGen Applications.
· Knowledge of clinical lab a plus.
· Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
· Customer service skills in handling patient questions and concerns with professionalism, empathy and patience.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to handle unexpected situations calmly and problem-solving patient concerns or conflicts.
· Ability to work independently or collaborate in a team environment.
· Ability to manage processes.
· Ability to run and analyze reports.
· Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
· Ability to use independent judgment.
· Ability to occasionally lift up to 20lbs.
